How do I know if Acupuncture is for me?

You would likely experience great benefit from acupuncture if you are:

  - Struggling with chronic health issues that have not responded well to conventional medicine
  - Looking for alternatives or compliments to your current forms of treatment
  - Interested in decreasing your dependence on prescription medications

What does Acupuncture feel like?

The sensations felt during acupuncture treatment vary according to each individual. Generally, clients describe the sensations as feeling nothing at all, a whisker like sensation, or a tingling/dull feeling which subsides soon after. Some points are more sensitive than others. Most people describe the sessions with Aime as deeply calming.

Are the needles safe?

Yes, sterile disposable needles are used.  They are used only one time and then disposed of after use.

What is Aime's Acupuncture Training?

Most Acupuncture schools require undergraduate training in a 4 year college, before an official training in a school of Eastern Medicine. Aime has a Master’s degree in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH).

What is the difference between Eastern and Western Medicine?

Both Western and Eastern Medicines are beautiful and valuable and there is a time and place for both. Western Medicine tends to focus on immediate relief of a symptom, lab numbers and emergency care, while Eastern Medicine focuses on human health in the context of body, mind, spirit culture and biosphere. Chinese Medicine is not just “needle insertion” it is the most highly evolved holistic theory of human function. An ecological medicine that serves as a valuable preventative and long term care alternative to pharmaceuticals and surgeries.

How do I get the most out of each session?

This will be something to discuss with Aime during your initial intake.
